About this event
Pull in at the O.G. Basement 11/16 to catch Portland, Oregon's HIPPIE DEATH CULT (Heavy Psych Records, Metal Blade Records) and Nashville's own MAANTA RAAY (No Sabes Projects) for a top tier game of Monday Night psych-ball featuring the best in good riffs and good times. About the groups: HIPPIE DEATH CULT has steadily become one of the most exciting bands in the modern heavy music scene, pairing massive riffs, deep grooves, psychedelic textures, thoughtful lyricism, and hypnotizing melodies into a sound that feels both classic and contemporary. , "rdquo" -> If Frank Zappa got into stoner rock, but also listened to some older Mastodon (https://metalinjection.net/tag/mastodon) on the weekends. It's equal parts progressive rock and just straight up riffs, making for one hell of a final product." --- Metal Injection MAANTA RAAY is a power trio from Nashville (but really Madison) whose debut s/t record the Nashville Scene named a Best Of 2025 selection. , "rdquo" -> MAANTA RAAY is here to prove that heavy psychedelia can be precise and chaotic all at once. Technically, the trio is a riff powerhouse with serious underground pedigree (ex-members of Immortal Lee County Killers and Quadrajets). But the edge is how they inject the Motorik pulse of Krautrock (think CAN) into the Stoner/Doom formula. The result is a sound that vocalist Chet Weise himself calls 'bounded chaos."'--- Smoke Cult
